Prairie Meadows Improvements

Shive-Hattery has provided design services for several addition and renovation projects at this facility. These include: 

• A multi-purpose facility capable of accommodating 800 seats for banquet-style events and 1,200 seats for theater style events. A grand arcade for pre-function activities connects the multi-purpose room with a conference center which includes several smaller break-out rooms and a grand board room.
• Two separate dining facilities were included with all the support amenities of a large commercial kitchen. A large buffet style restaurant that seats 338 guests was designed to provide a variety of cuisine options fully decorated with a Prairie-style theme. In addition, a 120-person fine dining restaurant was designed to provide yet another cuisine option for a casually elegant dining experience.
• The casino expansion included a large two-story volume space designed to accommodate a total of 2,000 slot machines and 65 table games. All the spaces were complete with festive finishes intended to promote excitement for this entertainment venue.
• Improvements to internal operations involved adding a second story to the central plant building for facilities administration offices and adding new commissary, warehouse and loading dock areas for receiving, storing, and distributing items through-out the entire facility.
• Site improvements included extensive landscaping as well as improved traffic circulation. All of which were geared towards improved casino access. A significant amount of private and public utilities were addressed to make way for all of these improvements. 
• An addition to the west side of the casino to add 330 slot machines. The project includes a new three-story atrium lobby, approximately 23,000 square feet of support and office space, approximately 23,000-square-feet of new casino area, a new central heating and cooling plant, a new entry (porte cochere), and related site, driveway, and landscaping improvements. Shive-Hattery provided design administration, major architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, site and landscaping design. Subconsultants provided interior design of the casino, design of food service facilities, and casino security. The air systems serving the casino use an innovative design involving air filtration and air flow delivery to improve air quality in a smoking environment. The air is filtered and conditioned at the air handling unit and delivered to the space at either the floor level, mid level, overhead (20 feet) or the combination of any of the three in order to provide optimum comfort. A state-of-the-art air-filtering system effectively cleans out the smoke and air pollutant particles for reuse of the air. The entire HVAC system is computer controlled to allow for maximum flexibility in providing customer comfort and high air quality. The equipment is integrated into the architecture of the space to enhance the Prairie Meadow's experience. 
• Renovation of the Terrace Dining facilities to create special plush VIP booths for small and medium-sized groups of spectators. The booths were designed with generous, soft seating and ornate finishes to present a festive atmosphere for these special groups.
