To deliver an authentic dining experience, local restaurateur Michael Kong wanted to bring the ambience and culture of the Orient to life inside the 5,900-square-foot Osaka Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar. To achieve an authentic experience of Asian cuisine, architectural design features focused on a modern interpretation of traditional Japanese design elements by creating a "stage" for the chefs, who prepare the cuisine while performing for their guests.
Special attention was paid to lighting to highlight for the dining experience as well as to create a calm, comfortable mood within the bar and dining areas. The subdued lighting also helps accentuate the show put on by the chefs, which includes an abundant helping of fire and flashy moves with the cooking utensils. The restaurant includes eleven teppanyaki-style cooking griddles that are within a direct line-of-sight to each other, allowing diners to enjoy the shows of neighboring tables while encouraging banter and interaction between the different chefs and customers.
