City High School Window Replacement

City High School Window Replacement

Iowa City, IA

This was a three-phase project to replace the existing windows and doors of the original 1939 City High School building returning the historic appearance of the school. Replacement window were close representations of the original windows with modern updates such as energy efficiency and ease of operation. Window air conditioners were replaced with split systems to improve the overall appearance of the building.

The 2,000-square-foot Learning Support area on the second floor was remodeled to access daylight from the full height of the windows. The Learning Support area windows had been partially covered up for over a decade. The remodeling also created a usable feature space for the school by reconfiguring offices and learning spaces efficiently using day lighting from the four central windows of the facility.
