Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School and Shive-Hattery worked together to take Kennedy's Cougar Commons from concept to reality.
The project began with selection of a site between the baseball/softball and tennis courts. From there a conceptual design was developed and through a series of meetings between Cougar Commons/Kennedy committee members and Shive-Hattery, a design was developed that not only met the committee's objectives but was within the budgetary limits. The final design included a combination concession/restroom and outdoor pavilion along with a separate tennis shelter designed to match the look of the concession building.
Services included site survey, utility locates, site plan, conceptual design and construction documents. During construction Shive-Hattery personnel were available to answer construction questions.
