Creston, IA
Green Valley Cottage Hospice was built as an extension to the Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston, Iowa. The 7,500 square foot facility creates a warm and inviting atmosphere for patients and their families. Six individual patient suites offer a serene environment to comfort and sooth the patients while offering a soft seating/sleeping area for family members. Shared amenities include a family area with kitchen, living area and bathing room. Laundry facilities are provided for extended stays and a grief support room for family counseling. In an effort to further accentuate the patient stay, a spa room was included offering hydro-therapy, towel warmers and background music.
The building is organized around a central nurse station having complete visual connectivity to all major areas of the building. Interior finishes are high-lighted with stained and varnished wood trim and raised panel wood doors. Up lighting accentuates the vaulted ceilings and inspirational stenciling was provided above the door to each patient suite. The exterior of the building is wrapped with covered porches and is clad with low maintenance vinyl siding. The facility is situated along the long axis of the property with a pond and fountain as a visual focus from the facility’s primary entrance.
