Shive-Hattery worked collaboratively with the City of West Des Moines Parks and Recreation Department Staff to study potential aesthetic enhancements to be made to the existing Railroad Avenue streetscape. The study will focus on creating enhancements that provide visual interest, promoting place recognition and wayfinding, and reinforcing community identity. Other important considerations include cost effectiveness, durability and ease of maintenance. The study area includes the right-of-way of Railroad Avenue from 63rd Street (Highway 28) to Grand Avenue and adjoining City-owned properties.
