Louisa Interpretive Center

Louisa Interpretive Center

Wapello, IA

In this project master planning has moved into design for the Louisa Interpretive Center at Langwood in southeastern Iowa. The Center includes interpretive exhibits that tell stories about the unique area, including history, culture, geology, hydrology, fauna and flora. Special features include outdoor wetland, prairie and forest interpretive displays.

Site preparation plans moved forward with an Iowa Department of Transportation let project for approximately $310,000 including site grading; pond and wetland construction; entrance road and parking lot paving; and restoration of prairie and wetland habitat.

This project also included finalized floor plans for the two story building, building elevations, and further site design for the Center. A schematic report was developed for use by Louisa County Conservation for continued fundraising and submittal to the Iowa Department of Transportation for approval.
