This facility is the USDA's new 3,000-square-foot stand-alone laboratory building to support the research of the Livestock Behavioral Research Unit, in West Lafayette, IN. The design services for this facility includes a BL-2 rated laboratory, an incubator room, a dark room, a microscope room and a walk-in cold storage unit. Supporting spaces include a conference room, a break room and several office spaces. Building systems included DDC HVAC controls, fire alarm systems and integrated security systems. Specialty equipment includes Cryostats, -80 degree freezers, Biological safety cabinets, fume hoods, a centrifuge, a sterilizer, an inoculators and dark room equipment.
This was the first facility designed directly by the Midwest Area Facilities Department in Peoria, Illinois.
