Shive-Hattery provided architectural, engineering and interior design services to renovate the front entrance of Building One. Work included reconfiguration of the main lobby to provide a new, patient-friendly information desk, a small coffee shop for staff and client convenience and a dedicated waiting area for the Eye Clinic.
Utilities were relocated so that the ceiling could be raised to provide more volume and make the entrance experience grander. Wall and ceiling finishes were upgraded, utilizing natural materials such as wood and stone. Signage was organized into defined display areas to create a less institutional, more hospitality oriented atmosphere. A three-color, epoxy terrazzo patterned floor enhanced the hospitality experience and provided lower maintenance and replacement costs for the hospital.
