Building 220 Cranebay Scanning

Building 220 Cranebay Scanning

Rock Island, IL

The project was to replace windows on the north side of Building 220 on the Rock Island Arsenal. High definition 3D laser scanning was used to acquire point cloud data for the rough openings of the windows and a 2D elevation view drawing was prepared for the contractors who will be replacing the new windows. Building 220 houses a manufacturing process that uses state-of-the-art, multi-million dollar equipment.

The original window system in the three-story, 90-year-old building, was seriously deteriorated. Shive-Hattery provided high definition (3D) scanning to get fast yet accurate window measurements. This eliminated the need to hand measure. It also eliminated disruption of the manufacturing processes and increased safety for both the measurers and the building occupants.
