Shive-Hattery was hired to perform a building condition study of the Crow Valley Golf Club Clubhouse. A comprehensive study of the general construction, roofing, mechanical and electrical systems was prepared. The findings indicated that the majority of the clubhouse's roof, mechanical and electrical components should be replaced. The report also stated that all of the existing brick, exterior windows and doors should be removed and replaced. The cost for repairs was estimated at $1.4 million.
When Shive-Hattery was awarded the project the scope of work for the project had grown beyond that of just remedial repairs and included an entire remodel of the exterior, interior finishes, furniture and new kitchen layout and equipment. The primary design emphasis was on the main south entrance to the club creating a “Wow” factor as guests entered. The south entry uses translucent channel glass walls to provide a glowing lantern-like appearance as the members approach the club at night. It also allows for a level of exclusivity and privacy for the members as persons pull up to the entry. The building’s signature circular windows and openings were preserved and the south and north additions exterior materials were designed to reflect a modern design palette with warm cast stone. The interior design finishes were also updated and create a warm inviting club atmosphere to reflect the exterior design.
The kitchen was reoriented and expanded to meet the growing needs of the Club. A series of clear and translucent windows framed the display of the kitchen with that of the formal dining area. The visualization of the Chef's preparation of specialty selections added to the excitement of the menu and dining experience.
