Shive-Hattery provided design, documentation, bid and construction phase services for the Iowa Health-Des Moines West Hospital, a new five-story building with 95 beds for public and acute care services. Shive-Hattery took over the project after the schematic design was performed by another firm. Shive-Hattery completed the design development phase and issued nine sequential bid packages in order to complement the fast track delivery method selected by the client. The result is a new, state-of-the-art community hospital to serve the health care needs of the western Greater Des Moines Metro Area.
Services provided by the facility will include ambulatory and acute care, emergency department, imaging, surgery, birthing center, medical and surgical bed units, as well as an array of other patient and community services. The new building image is crafted to articulate Iowa Health-Des Moines' goal to provide patient-family centered health care in an environment that is welcoming, comfortable and nurturing.
Shive-Hattery's services included architectural design, partial interior design, landscape architecture, mechanical, electrical, structural and civil design.
