Air Emissions

Services to Iowa facilities include:

  • Construction Permits: Facilities meeting requirements are issued construction permits. New facilities must be designed to meet emissions standards and not result in a violation of ambient air quality standards.
  • Minor Source Emission Inventories (MSEI): Include information about the sources and quantities of air pollutants emitted from small- to medium-sized facilities, and are required every three years to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
  • Title V Operating permits are legally enforceable documents that permitting authorities issue to air pollution sources after the source has begun to operate. This requirement comes from Title V of the Clean Air Act, as amended in 1990. Shive-Hattery can calculate emissions from sources for inclusion in the Title V permit or help make revisions to an existing Title V permit.
