In response to student surveys which described the Bone Student Center as "dark," "dreary," and "cold and uninviting," the University wanted to revitalize the public spaces of the Student Center by specifying new flooring for the first and third floors.
Shive-Hattery provided an energetic design, using several colorful carpet tile patterns. The design flows from space to space, leading visitors to various points of interest, all the while providing uniformity throughout. The new flooring was also selected to meet the University's design guidelines as well as the aesthetic and maintenance needs of the facility.
"The décor and flexibility has been a great asset," said Jim Carlson, past Associate Director of the Bone Student Center, "The carpeting has really warmed the place up. Our numbers have grown significantly over the last couple of years. Shive-Hattery was a great help in that. Thanks from Bone Student Center."
