St. Paul Lutheran Church wanted to create a garden retreat and contemplative space that could also be used for memorial services. The memorial garden, on the corner of Brady and Lombard Street, features an arbor, a pergola and a fountain, which offers a soothing sound to mitigate traffic noise from nearby busy streets. Church members and the public alike are encouraged to rest on the benches and reflect in these spaces.
The original church steeple is lit at night, providing a dramatic backdrop for the garden. Low level landscape lighting gives the area a peaceful nightime glow.
