Shive-Hattery's Transportation Development Strategy process was used to prepare a master development plan for about 1,500 acres of undeveloped area. The plan expands upon the detail and definition of area identified in Marion's Future Land Plan, the initial comprehensive planning effort. This study: creates and defines daily transportation routes that are safe, efficient and provide good access for emergency vehicles, considers topography and drainage, geology, archeology, vegetation, storm water management, utilities and existing adjacent transportation systems to reduce the risk of any of these factors becoming a "fatal flaw" as development proceeds. Anticipates future sewer and water needs so development can occur in a logical, sequential manner.
