	SUCCESSFUL DOWNTOWN REDEVELOPMENT Washington Corners - Naperville, IL Naperville is a model for successful downtown development. Case-in-point is a recent mixed-use development that has won praise from local retailers, citizen groups and city officials. The City of Naperville, "Cando" (Citizens and Retailers for Redevelopment of the Downtown Area of Naperville) and the Naperville Chamber of Commerce worked with BBM, Inc. developers to renovate a two-story abandoned building. A contemporary building design attracted retailers such as Barnes & Noble and Restoration Hardware. The building´s early twentieth century detailing was restored to maintain a pedestrian-friendly design and scale of the existing downtown streetscape. Remaining space was quickly leased for law offices, dental offices, laser eye care clinic and professional offices--all designed by Arcline Associates.
